Name:<\/strong> Sadhana Forest Kenya<\/p>\n

Location:<\/strong> Samburu County, Kenya, about 15 minutes by car from the town Kisima. (There are two other locations: Auroville, India and Anse-a-Pitre, Haiti)<\/p>\n

Founded:<\/strong> Sadhana Forest: December 2003, Sadhana Forest Kenya: Founded December 2012 with operations commencing in April 2014.<\/p>\n

Owners:<\/strong> Board of Directors: Aviram Rozin, Yorit Rozin and Elizabeth Kamundia<\/p>\n

Size:<\/strong> 11 hectares<\/p>\n

Purpose:<\/strong> To establish food security through indigenous food forestry and water conservation with the Samburu people.<\/p>\n

Current main projects:<\/strong> Holding trainings both at the Sadhana Forest Kenya campus and in the field on tree planting and tree care for arid and semi-arid environments. Carrying out planting sessions throughout the local community with trainees around their homes. Maintaining the Sadhana Forest Kenya campus and caring for trees and vegetation to promote regeneration. Cob construction on site.<\/p>\n

Future plans:<\/strong> Develop a mobile reforestation unit that would travel from the Sadhana Forest Kenya campus to more remote locations carrying trees, water, tools and a team for extended periods of time, extending Sadhana Forest Kenya\u2019s geographic and demographic reach.<\/p>\n

Team:<\/strong>\u00a0 2-4 long-term volunteers living on campus and 6 local employees living off-campus.<\/p>\n

New members:<\/strong> There is no membership because Sadhana Forest is not a community. Those interested in living there long-term are welcome to volunteer for at least three months and then can discuss a more permanent situation.<\/p>\n

Volunteering:<\/strong> Possible in all three countries. In Kenya: Volunteers need to bring their own tent (and sleeping bag) and pay a daily food contribution of 600 KSH, around 6 USD.<\/p>\n

Legal entity:<\/strong> Registered International NGO<\/p>\n

Funding: <\/strong>Sadhana Forest doesn’t undisclose their\u00a0donors and funders<\/p>\n

Tobacco and alcohol:<\/strong> Not permitted during the entire volunteering stay \u2013 neither on campus nor outside.<\/p>\n
